The Modernization Project Office (MPO) is seeking an experienced electrical engineering professional with a minimum of 7 years of power design engineering experience in commercial and institutional building applications. A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
The individual shall be experienced in the layout and design of electrical power distribution systems (less than 600 volts). The position requires a good working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC- NFPA 70) and other NFPA codes relevant to power systems design and applicable industry and client standards is required.
The individual must be experienced with the AE design process and development of detailed specifications leading to construction documents. The individual will work with other engineers, project managers and construction personnel. The position includes technical oversight and support during construction and performing local job site surveys to assess and document existing conditions and gather field information and measurement to support the design process and installation. The individual will have the ability to read and produce one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams and electrical control schematics. Additional responsibilities will include using AutoCad to prepare drawing and details for the installation of underground electrical distribution, emergency backup and critical power systems.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and at least seven (7) years progressive responsibility in power systems design.
Must be proficient in the use of AutoCAD.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
An advanced degree (Master in Electrical Engineering) and/or a professional engineering license or Engineer-In-Training status in New York State.
Ability to model drawings in Revit.
