Organizational Overview
The Stakeholder Relations Office (SRO) develops, implements, and assesses strategic internal and external communications plans and programs to advance the scientific mission and priority programs and initiatives of the Lab; develops and implements government and stakeholder relations programs to help increase support for the Lab’s programs and priority projects; and oversees science education and workforce development programs to fulfill the Lab’s and DOE’s education and diversity goals.
Position Description
Brookhaven National Laboratory is hiring a Creative Resources Systems Specialist who will work with a cross-functional team of creative professionals in the Lab’s Creative Resources group, including photographers, graphic designers, and production staff. The successful applicant will provide technical support for bargaining unit computers, equipment and devices within the Creative Resources group, provide maintenance and administration of printers/servers used by the group, and maintain the Lab’s digital asset management system. When needed, candidate will also perform all phases of photography, videography, graphic design and production and provide technical support for live streaming events and tours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under minimum direction, provide technical support for bargaining unit computers, equipment and devices within the Creative Resources group, and provide maintenance and administration of printers/servers used by the group.
- Administrate and maintain the Laboratory’s Digital Asset Management System.
- When needed, perform all phases of photography, videography, graphic design and production including editing, archiving, and file delivery.
- Support live streaming events and virtual tours
- Provide technical recommendations to department management regarding the implementation of systems.
- Assist and advise Laboratory users on issues regarding photography and graphic arts.
- Provide systems integration expertise throughout Creative Resources.
Position Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires BS in computer science or related field and several years' experience in a professional publishing environment.
- Significant experience troubleshooting Apple and Microsoft Windows systems, applications and associated networks and servers.
- Experience with Adobe’s Creative Suite applications such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier and Acrobat.
- Experience in implementation and administration of Digital Asset Management systems.
- Accurately interpret, document, and communicate diagnostic feedback from production equipment and act upon information to resolve production, maintenance and repair issues.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Successful completion of Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) and Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) (multiple applications) certification exams.
- Experience in digital photography and videography (both production and post-production.)
- Experience with prepress and or digital press equipment.
