The Occupational Medicine Clinic (OMC) is an on-site organization of dedicated Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) health care professionals. We are a vital part of the Human Resources and Occupational Medicine Division conveniently located on-site and providing care throughout BNL business hours.

OMC’s mission is to support the health of BNL employees in order to assure a healthy, safe and productive workforce for the benefit of BNL and of the nation.

We achieve this mission through an emphasis on wellness, prevention and early disease detection, as well as the optimal management and rehabilitation of injured employees. Our dedicated staff strives to maintain excellent standards of care while constantly addressing the occupational and environmental health concerns of BNL employees and management.

Position Description

OMC is seeking an on-call, per diem Physician to join the mission and the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage OMC when the OMC Physician/Director is not physically present on-site.
• Pursue and maintain certification, and training necessary to fulfill the position of staff physician.
• Evaluate & direct care for acute medical problems or injuries. (on-site EMS available).
• Initiate diagnosis and referral of occupational illness or injuries, in collaboration with the Occupational Medicine Nursing Staff.
• Be familiar with and act in accordance with the OMC policies and procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Board Certified in Occupational Medicine/Internal Medicine/Family Medicine/Preventive Medicine (in NYS)
• Minimum 2-3 years of work experience post residency (work in Occupational Health or Employee Health preferred)

Other Information:

• This is an on-site position at BNL in Upton, NY
• Ability to fill in for OMC physician in case of vacations / conference /dire emergency
• Available 2-5 days /month from 8-4:30pm; Mostly Wednesday - Friday; No weekends
• OMC is open 8 am-4:30pm (M-F)

Brookhaven National Laboratory is committed to providing fair, equitable and competitive compensation. The full salary range for this position is $100 - $130 / hour. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidate’s qualification, education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
