Equipment Relocation Technician
Job ID JR101898 Date posted 07/01/2025The professional will assist the EBNN DCOO with implementing a laboratory infrastructure improvement plan. To return unused or unnecessary EBNN laboratory and/or technical space to the Site Planning and Infrastructure Management Division the space must be free of hazardous materials, de-posted, and be acceptable for an Exit Readiness Review.
- Assist with work planning and control to review work areas for hazards (i.e., such as material handling (moving equipment), assembly/disassembly of equipment, chemical and radiological material disposal, handling of lead bricks, and excessing and recycling materials.
- Prepare hazardous waste control forms to ensure the safe disposal of hazardous waste, legacy equipment, and other materials.
- Prepare EMRs, identify barcoded property and ensure that it is properly accounted for and notify the responsible Property Custodian for removal or transfer of equipment that is found.
- Write Work Orders as needed to remove legacy items from EBNN Areas.
- Following BNL processes, properly dispose of research material and equipment (glass containers, tools, instrumentation, computers, carts, gas cylinders, lecture bottles, etc.) are removed from the specified areas.
Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
- Six (6) years prior relevant mechanical & electrical experience with large, complex machinery.
- Ability to read and carry out instructions from a manual.
- Good mechanical skills: the ability to work with basic hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Effective time management skills.
- Basic computer skills and experience with using Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to drive a Kubota
- Demonstrated ability to independently perform duties.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
- Familiarity with BNL's Property Management System
- Familiarity with BNLs Chemical Management System
- Familiarity with BNL’s Hazardous Waste Management System
- Familiarity with BNL's Work Planning and Control Process
- Familiarity with BNL’s Work Order Process and the trades
- Individual will be required to have a valid NYS Driver’s license (Real ID)

This position is temporary, Part-Time 16 hrs/week – any two weekdays between 10/6/25and 9/30/26
