The Omega Group has major responsibilities in detector operations and software development, and has leading roles in the ATLAS High Luminosity Large-Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) upgrade. BNL serves as the host laboratory for the U.S. ATLAS Operations Program, the U.S. ATLAS HL-LHC Upgrade Project, the ATLAS Tier-1 computing facility, and is an active U.S. ATLAS Center. The Omega Group is becoming involved in the EIC and has strong detector R&D programs on silicon detectors and in data acquisition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participation in the ATLAS and EIC scientific programs with a strong focus on Electroweak and Beyond the Standard Model physics.
  • Participation in the development and performance of physics and detector simulations for high-energy and nuclear physics.
  • Development of new artificial-intelligence and machine-learning techniques for high-energy and nuclear physics.
  • Close interaction with our collaborators in the EIC and the BNL theory group will be essential for progress on all aspects of this program.
