The Lab is primarily supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science. Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) operates and manages the Laboratory for DOE. BSA is a partnership between Battelle and The Research Foundation for the State University of New York on behalf of Stony Brook University.


Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides professional, technical, and planning support for a full project cycle
  • With a minimum supervision, responsible for planning all types of plant maintenance and repair work orders for the electrical/mechanical trade shops
  • Works directly with trades’ supervision and contractors to identify resources required to perform scheduled work
  • Verifies the availability of resources prior to scheduling work or arranges for appropriate alternatives
  • Conducts weekly scheduling meetings with the Master Scheduler to develop the following week's schedule, reviews the status of scheduled work orders, and discusses new, incoming work orders
  • Works closely with the trade supervisors/vendors/contractors concerning work planning, tracking, scheduling, and completion of work orders 
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement, planning or performance through analysis of work order flow, project demands and expectations
  • Reports to the Manager of the Facility Operations Center

Position Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires ten (10) years broad experience in the electrical/mechanical trade
  • Knowledge of electrical/mechanical discipline
  • Five years’ experience in estimating in the electrical/mechanical field
  • Specialized training in a Computerized Maintenance Management System Program, and estimating standards
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office; specifically, Microsoft Excel
  • Experience preparing detailed work plans
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret building codes
  • Experience in work planning, project planning and project scheduling

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • The equivalence of a technical institute or Associates degree in a related field
  • Expertise in Work Management Systems
  • Experience working closely with Engineers and Scientific community
  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA Codes
  • Experience with Maximo
