Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs wide variety of manual labor tasks on roads, grounds or building maintenance.
• May perform unskilled tasks assisting mechanics.
• Operates such equipment as power lawn mowers and pneumatic tools.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Requires a High School diploma, GED, or higher.
• With limited instruction the candidate must be able to demonstrate an aptitude for using various
power tools and equipment.
• Experienced in commercial landscaping including the use of commercial lawn mowers, line
trimmers, edgers, and all associated hand tools.
• Experienced in the use of light powered equipment such as skid steer loaders, tractors, and off-road
vehicles.
• Must possess a valid NYS driver's license.

Other Requirements:

• Must meet the medical requirements of the “Job Assessment Form."
• Must have a telephone and must provide the number to BNL for callout and contact purposes.
• Must possess written and verbal skills.
• Must be capable of following written instruction procedures, work orders, and similar documents.
• Must possess the writing skills to sufficiently complete work orders and other required
documents.
• Must be able to communicate verbally with customers, fellow workers, and supervisors.
• Must be able to complete all the requirements of the Job Training Assessment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to be available for off-hour response to emergency call-ins for snow removal and other
events.
• Experience in road repairs such as pothole repair with both hot mixed asphalt concrete and cold
patch materials.
• Experience in the performance of, or assistance with masonry work.
• Experience with excavation and grading.

Environmental, Health, and Safety Requirements:

• Standing, bending and lifting.
• Ability to do heavy lifting > 30 lbs.
• Ability to do moderate lifting < 30 lbs.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders.
• Work outdoors/cold environments.
• Work in warm environments.
• Moving machinery.
• Use of powered and air operated hand-tools.
• Use of a respirator and other related safety equipment.
• Physical coordination dexterity and balance.
• Ability to wear proper PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.
