The Facilities & Operations (F&O) Directorate’s mission is to support the science and technology and environmental restoration missions of the Laboratory by providing a safe, environmentally sound, and reliable infrastructure, to provide high quality crafts and fabrication services to our customers as needed and to protect people, property, and national security.
The Guest Services (SS) Division operates and maintains BNL's:
- Conference and Meeting Services
- Mail Pick-up and Delivery
- Housing/Residential Services
- Quality of Life Office
- Recreation Program/BERA
- Transportation Services
- Custodial Services
- Contracted Services (oversight)
- Food Services
- United States Post Office
- Vending Services – NY State Commission for the Blind
These operating and maintenance activities are performed in a manner to ensure they are always safe, reliable, efficient, and mission ready.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision, performs general cleaning and housekeeping duties in on-site Housing units.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires one year of custodial/housekeeping experience
- Must be flexible and customer oriented.
- Must be able to read and comprehend OSHA Material Safety Data Sheets and other job-related documents.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass computer-based training.
Environmental, Health, and Safety Considerations:
- Moderate lifting (less than 30 lbs.)
- Physical Coordination/Repetitive Motion
- Frequent forward bending or twisting
