Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Under minimum supervision lays out, constructs, modifies and maintains buildings and component parts from construction drawings, rough sketches or verbal instructions.
• Works with wood, wood substitutes and combination materials and flooring, roofing and wall materials.
• Uses hand, portable and fixed tools common to building construction trades.
• Installs cabinets, door frames, window glass, interior finishes and hangs doors.
• Performs roof surveys.
• May perform Cabinetmaker duties as required.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Requires a High School diploma, GED, or higher.
• 6-yrs total experience composed of 4-yrs apprenticeship plus 2-yrs experience, or
• 6-8 yrs. total experience composed of formal trade school plus minimum 2-yrs experience, or
• 8-yrs experience (no formal training).
• Must have knowledge of the OSHA regulations relating to building construction.
• Must possess a valid NYS driver's license.

• With limited instruction the candidate must be able to layout a framing, flooring, dropped ceiling and staircase project.


Other Requirements:
• Must meet the medical requirements of the “Job Assessment Form".
• Must have a telephone and must provide the number to BNL for callout and contact purposes.
• Must possess written and verbal skills.
• Must be capable of following written instruction procedures, work orders, and similar documents.
• Must possess the writing skills to sufficiently complete work orders and other required documents.
• Must be able to communicate verbally with customers, fellow workers, and supervisors.
• Must be able to complete all the requirements of the Job Training Assessment.

• Standing, bending and lifting
• Ability to do heavy lifting > 30 lbs.
• Ability to do moderate lifting < 30 lbs.
• Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders
• Work outdoors/cold environments
• Work in warm environments
• Moving machinery
• Physical coordination dexterity and balance
• Use of powered and hand operated hand-tools
• Operates fork trucks
• Use of a respirator and other related safety equipment
• Ability to wear proper PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection
