The Instrumentation Division is engaged in the development of ASICs for particle detectors, high resolution X- and gamma-ray spectrometers, high-rate photon counters and imagers, with applications in large DOE and international user facilities and elsewhere. These ASICs operate with multi-element, solid-state, liquid, and gas sensors, at room and cryogenic temperatures.
The Division has an opening for an experienced ASIC Designer. The ideal candidate will be an Electronic Engineer/Scientist/Physicist with relevant experience in microelectronics, specifically high-performance integrated circuits.
The position will involve application of knowledge on sensor modeling, signal and noise in circuits, equivalent noise charge, low-noise amplifiers, charge amplifier design, input transistor optimization, high-order filters, time-domain analysis, time-variant and time-invariant filters, analog and digital signal processing, peak detection, timing measurements and layout techniques.
- Requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or closely related field of study.
- Minimum seven (7) years progressively responsible related work experience that demonstrates a sound knowledge of current principles and practices in a specialized field of engineering.
Experience in microelectronics with track record of developing state-of-the-art integrated circuits in CMOS technologies.
Experience in developing electronics as part of a team for scientific applications.
Experience with Cadence design tools for schematics design (analog/mixed-signal/digital), time and frequency-domain simulation on circuit performance (power, gain, noise, and stability), physical design (layout), verification, and extraction for post-layout simulation (analog/mixed-signal/digital) and digital logic design.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Master's Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics or related discipline.
Experience with design and measurement of low-noise integrated circuits for scientific instrumentation.
- Experience with multi-laboratory collaborations.
